The National Park Service is not answering questions about the circumstances surrounding the deaths of two wild horses struck by vehicles on Assateague Island National Seashore this month, as the incidents fuel calls from horse advocates for stronger safety measures.
So far, the park service has confirmed only that Susi Solé, a 12-year-old mare, and the stallion Dune Dancer Jolt were struck and killed by vehicles this month. Susi died Aug. 13 on Bayberry Drive, while Dune Dancer died Aug. 1.
